CASE 11
Angel Veneer
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- About 0.1–0.5mm of the tooth surface was prepared before bonding thin ceramic shells (Angel Veneer).
No anesthetic was used in this case, and little pain was reported.
The patient chose the Super White shade for a whiter appearance with translucency. - Duration & visits
- Duration: about 2 weeks to 1 month
Number of visits: 2–3 (impression → fitting)
*Veneers change the appearance of teeth; they do not move the teeth as orthodontic treatment does. - Cost
- ¥110,000–165,000 per tooth (tax included)
(*Varies depending on the number of teeth and the grade of material) - Risks & side effects
- Because ceramic is bonded onto the tooth, it adds a small amount to the thickness of the original tooth (you may notice some discomfort until you get used to it).
Because ultrathin ceramic is used, it may crack or come off if strong force is applied. Depending on your bite, this treatment may not be suitable.
CASE 10
Invisalign
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- Full-arch orthodontic treatment used Invisalign, a clear, removable aligner system. An iTero 3D scan was used to plan tooth movement. A sequence of aligners corrected the crowding without extraction. Interproximal reduction (IPR), the removal of a small amount of enamel between teeth, created space for alignment.
- Duration & visits
- Treatment period: about 1 year. Number of visits: once every 1.5 to 3 months (follow-up and receiving aligners)
- Cost
- Total ¥880,000 (tax included) (breakdown: Invisalign Standard package). *The cost of a retainer may be an additional charge.
- Risks & side effects
- If you do not keep the aligner on for at least 20 hours a day, your teeth may not move as planned and treatment may take longer. At the start of treatment or when switching to a new aligner, you may feel a tightening pain or discomfort in your teeth. After treatment, wearing a retainer is essential to prevent the teeth from shifting back.
CASE 09
Clear Aligner Treatment
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- Full-arch Invisalign treatment included intrusion of the front teeth, a movement into the supporting bone, to adjust bite height. Correction of the deep bite reduced strain on the jaw joint and changed the facial profile (E-line).
- Duration & visits
- Duration: about 2 to 3 years. Visits: once every 1.5 to 3 months
- Cost
- Total ¥1,012,000 (tax included) (breakdown: Invisalign Premium package). *This is a complex full-arch orthodontic plan that includes improving bite function.
- Risks & side effects
- Root resorption (shortening of the tooth root) may occur. Because the bite changes, you may feel temporary jaw fatigue or discomfort during treatment. Because this is a difficult case, treatment may take longer than usual.
CASE 08
Clear Aligner Treatment
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- Invisalign clear, removable aligners were used with a ClinCheck 3D treatment plan. A sequence of aligners moved the teeth into the planned positions. Interproximal reduction (IPR), the removal of a small amount of enamel between teeth, created space without extraction.
- Duration & visits
- About 1 to 2 years. Visits: once every 1.5 to 3 months (follow-up and receiving aligners)
- Cost
- Total ¥880,000 (tax included) (breakdown: Invisalign Standard package). *A package plan with no limit on the number of aligners until treatment is complete.
- Risks & side effects
- If you do not wear the aligners for the required time (at least 20 hours a day), your teeth will not move as planned. At the start of treatment or when switching to a new aligner, you may feel a tightening pain in your teeth. After treatment ends, there is a risk of relapse unless you use a retainer.
CASE 07
Angel Veneer
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- About 0.3–0.5mm of the surfaces of 6 upper front teeth was removed before bonding thin ceramic shells (laminate veneers). The shape and shade were designed on a model to match the planned appearance.
- Duration & visits
- About 1 to 1.5 months. Number of visits: 3–4 (counseling, preparation/impression-taking, try-in/fitting)
- Cost
- ¥113,300 per tooth (tax included) and up (*for reference: based on the e-max ceramic menu). *Because this case involved treatment of 6 upper front teeth, the total comes to about ¥679,800 (tax included) and up.
- Risks & side effects
- A layer of the healthy tooth's surface needs to be shaved off. Because ultrathin ceramic is used, if you use your front teeth to bite hard objects or have a habit of grinding your teeth, it may chip or come off. Temporary sensitivity (a stinging feeling) may occur after treatment.
CASE 06
Dental Implants
BEFORE
AFTER
- Treatment
- A titanium implant was placed in the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth. After the bone had bonded with the implant, a ceramic crown was fitted to restore chewing and appearance. The implant supported the crown without using the adjacent teeth as bridge supports.
- Duration & visits
- Treatment period: about 3 to 6 months (including the healing period for the bone to bond with the implant). Number of visits: about 6 to 10
- Cost
- From ¥440,000 (tax included) (breakdown: first-stage implant surgery ¥220,000 + crown/second-stage surgery ¥220,000). *This is a guide price when using an Osstem-brand implant. *If bone grafting (GBR) is needed, additional cost applies.
- Risks & side effects
- Because this involves surgery, pain, swelling, bleeding and bruising can occur after the procedure. Neglecting daily care and regular maintenance can lead to “peri-implantitis,” a condition similar to periodontal disease, with the risk that the implant will come loose and fall out.
